Granite River Labs Announces USB Mac OS X Compliance Testing Services

Granite River Labs (GRL), a provider of USB compliance and stress testing services and software, today announced availability of test services for USB developers that require extensive functional testing in an Apple Mac OS X environment. Developed in collaboration with Apple, GRL’s USB Mac OS X Compliance Testing helps USB product developers to ensure proper device operation across a wide selection of Mac Hosts and USB hubs.

USB Mac OS X Compliance Testing is managed solely by Apple as a separate supplementary program to the USB-IF’s official compliance program, where functional testing is more Microsoft Windows-oriented. GRL is also a leading independent test lab approved by the USB-IF to provide official USB compliance certification services.

“LaCie is committed to offering the highest quality storage solutions for Mac users,” said Erwan Girard, Business Unit Manager for LaCie. “GRL’s independent certification ensures that customers will have a seamless experience with our products.”

“As USB 3.0 continues to grow in popularity, validating devices across multiple host systems becomes ever more important but also more challenging. “ said Johnson Tan, GRL CEO & Co-Founder. “Granite River Labs’ USB Mac OS X Compliance Test Services allow USB developers to build confidence that the end user will have a superior experience with their product in a Mac environment, and through extensive stress tests, adhere to high standards of product quality.”

The LaCie Rugged Thunderbolt was the first product certified through this program, demonstrating LaCie’s commitment to maintaining the highest levels of quality, interoperability, and user experience in the Apple Mac OS X environment. LaCie, the premium brand from Seagate Technology (NASDAQ: STX), designs world–class external storage products and differentiates itself with sleek design and unmatched technical performance.
