Why is Zigbee testing and CSA certification important??
An overview of Zigbee standards
Zigbee certified products connect and communicate using the same IoT language with each other. Today, millions of Zigbee products are already deployed in smart homes and commercial buildings. Built with backwards and forwards compatibility in mind, CSA certified Zigbee products have become one of the most popular options among consumers for the choice and flexibility that they provide, and are also beloved by developers thanks to the standardization and testing of all layers of the stack.
Visit the official CSA website for more information about the Zgibee standard.
When was the Connectivity Standards Alliance (CSA) established?
Formerly known as the Zigbee Alliance, the organization was officially renamed the Connectivity Standards Alliance (CSA) on May 11, 2021. It is formed by global businesses that collaborate closely together to develop, implement, and maintain international standards for the IoT and smart home devices.
Visit the official CSA website for more information about CSA.

Becoming Zigbee compliance certified
GRL laboratories conduct Zigbee compliance for Zigbee end products that use the singular certified Compliant Platform. You may find the full list of Zigbee certified Compliant Platform here.
How to obtain Zigbee certification?
The following is a step-by-step illustration of the Zigbee validation test process:
Zigbee certification step 1: Become a Connectivity Standards Alliance (CSA) member
Prior to obtaining Zigbee certification, either you or your brand company client must first become a CSA (the Alliance) member by writing to certification@csa-iot.org.
Your application will be confirmed once you obtain a vendor ID (VID).
Zigbee certification step 2: Submit Device Under Test (DUT) and test documentation
You will need to provide the following documents before Zigbee certification testing can begin:
- Production information form for subsequent quotation and testing
- 2 sets of DUTs
Feel free to reach out to GRL sales for assistance on form procurement and submission.
Zigbee certification step 3: Receive testing report results
The GRL team will submit the required test reports and documents to the Alliance.
