Granite River Labs (GRL) invites you to visit us at Automotive Ethernet Congress 2025 in Munich, Germany.

GRL is proud to be a Gold Partner of Automotive Ethernet Congress, which will take place for the 11th time in Munich, Germany on February 18-20, 2025. We will be conducting a demo to evaluate the performance and reliability of a 10BASE-T1S network, including PMA-RX testing and Multi-Gig TC10 Sleep/Wake testing. Test components include: Rohde & Schwarz MXO 5, TSN Systems TSN-Box V3.2, Aukua MGA2510 & AWG for Noise/Signal-Generation.

The conference program, exhibition and workshops will highlight the entire spectrum of topics relating to the use of Ethernet in vehicles. This event will offer you the opportunity to share and discuss new ideas around the implementation and use of Ethernet in vehicles and in your own projects.

Topic: Real-time Physical Layer Analysis of the PLCA Protocol

10BASE-T1S deviates from the traditional point-to-point architecture of most Ethernet PHYs by allowing more than two transmitting nodes to communicate across a multi-drop connection. To support this functionality a new reconciliation sublayer, the Physical Layer Collision Avoidance (PLCA), was developed in 802.3cg to maintain compatibility with the existing Ethernet Media Access Control (MAC). Making PLCA an essential protocol for 10BASE-T1S operation.

Key physical layer parameters, such as electrical characteristics, transmission timing, packet sequence order, and network latency are vital in verifying compliance and network performance. This presentation highlights the need for real-time analysis of the PLCA protocol on the physical layer to assist in identifying errored symbols or PLCA sequence/timing violations leading to unexpected behavior higher up the network stack.
