GRL Issues First Ever DisplayHDR True Black Certificate for Lenovo Notebook

Delivering unprecedented 1000-nit brightness with true black levels at high refresh rates, the revolutionary OLED display certification sets a new benchmark for professional content creation and esports.

Granite River Labs (“GRL”), a global leader in engineering services, automated test solutions for digital connectivity and charging technologies, and professional market access services, has officially issued the display industry’s first DisplayHDR True Black certificate to Lenovo. This certification validates displays of 120Hz refresh rates and above, representing a breakthrough in display performance that combines professional-grade color accuracy with competitive gaming capabilities.

Introduced by the Video Electronics Standards Association (VESA®) in December 2024 as a next-generation OLED display specification, DisplayHDR True Black establishes stringent criteria in 1000-nit peak brightness at 8% white screen area while maintaining minimum 500-nit sustained brightness across the entire display.

Vice President and General Manager of Consumer and SMB at the Lenovo Notebook Development Center Ma Zhaochun said, “Creative professionals can look forward to enjoying new brightness levels while maintaining OLED’s signature pure blacks. We’re proud to partner with GRL to validate these capabilities and bring our newest notebook lineup to market.”

GRL President Mr. Holger Kunz added, “DisplayHDR sets a new standard for technical precision and consistency. We are excited to confirm that Lenovo has met every aspect of VESA’s standard and look forward to helping more organizations advance their display technology capabilities.”
