Lab joins GRL Shanghai and GRL Taiwan in supporting the ever-expanding Thunderbolt™ ecosystem
Granite River Labs (GRL), a global leader in engineering services, test automation solutions for digital connectivity and charging technologies, and professional market access services, has announced that its lab in Dongguan, China has been approved by Intel® Corporation to conduct electrical and functional testing for Thunderbolt™ 3 and 4 devices.
GRL Dongguan now joins GRL’s labs in Shanghai and Taipei in providing Thunderbolt™ 3 and 4 certification for both Hosts and Devices.
The development follows GRL Dongguan’s approval in September 2022 to perform Thunderbolt™ 4 testing, certification, pre-testing and debugging services for the Windows platform. In addition to expanding GRL’s extensive portfolio, this latest authorization offers customers access to an even more comprehensive range of Thunderbolt™ testing services.
Thunderbolt™ technology enables a single connection to handle video, data transfer, and charging simultaneously. With Thunderbolt™ 4, users can experience high-bandwidth connectivity of up to 40 Gigabits per second (Gbps) through a USB-C™ connector. Thunderbolt™ 4 is also compliant with USB4® standards, ensuring compatibility with a wide range of USB4® devices. It also optionally supports DisplayPort 2.1, allowing users to enjoy high-quality DisplayPort™ video and audio while simultaneously transferring data at a rate of 40 Gbps.
“We extend our heartfelt congratulations to GRL Dongguan for obtaining authorization to conduct electrical and functional testing for Thunderbolt™ 3 and 4 devices,” said Deng Shibo, Vice President of R&D for Adaptertek. “This achievement represents a notable milestone for the Thunderbolt™ sector in the region. We wish GRL Dongguan continued success on its journey forward.”
“This milestone reaffirms GRL’s commitment to supporting the ever-expanding Thunderbolt™ ecosystem,” said Holger Kunz, GRL’s President of Worldwide Services. “With our extensive technical leadership and expertise in Thunderbolt™, USB, PCI Express®, and DisplayPort™, we are poised to assist customers worldwide in efficiently testing, certifying, and launching their products in global markets.”
