This recognition enables manufacturers of CCTV cameras to enter the Indian market by having additional security compliance in accordance with the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) Compulsory Registration Scheme which is mandatory starting from April 9, 2025.

Granite River Labs (GRL), a global leader in engineering services, test automation solutions for digital connectivity and charging technologies, and professional market access services, has been recognized by the BIS, under the Compulsory Registration Scheme(CRS), for cybersecurity testing of CCTV cameras as per the Essential Requirements (ER01) which has made it mandatory starting from April 9, 2025.

The BIS has recognized GRL's Bangalore lab as one of the few labs capable of providing cybersecurity testing for CCTV cameras in accordance with Essential Requirements (ER01), as part of the BIS Compulsory Registration Scheme.

Starting from April 9, 2025, all CCTV cameras must comply with the new cybersecurity requirements in addition to electrical safety. These requirements include:

  • Physical Security: Use tamper-resistant camera enclosures and locking mechanisms to deter physical tampering.
  • Access Control: Implement authentication, role-based access control (RBAC), and regularly review and update access permissions to reflect personnel changes.
  • Network Security: Employ encryption for data transmission.
  • Software Security: Ensure regular updates, disable unused features, and enforce strong password policies.
  • Penetration Testing: Conduct penetration testing to assess the system's resistance to cyberattacks and address vulnerabilities.
