GRL’s solution compatible with Agilent’s state-of-the-art Infiniium real-time Oscilloscopes
Granite River Labs (GRL), a leading contributor to UHS-II testing and guidelines development for the SD memory card ecosystem, today announced availability of the only automation software on the market for oscilloscope-based UHS-II protocol analysis and debug in real-time. Developed in collaborations with Agilent Technologies, GRL’s UHS-II Protocol Decode Software (GRL-UHSII-DEC) is the only tool that will provide a link between the transmitted UHS-II packets to the physical layer signal with a set of easy-to-use tools to debug quickly and efficiently. GRL-UHSII-DEC overcomes the limitations of a traditional oscilloscope by helping developers detect and correct early design errors in the debug cycles to accelerate time-to-market of their products.
The SD Association is a global ecosystem of companies setting industry-leading memory card standards. UHS-II is a symbol defined to indicate bus interface for data transfer speed between the memory card and the device of up to 312 Megabytes per second. As the market rapidly shifts to 4K2K video formats, it is imperative for device manufacturers to introduce a wide array of 4K2K television and video products to support the growing market demand. GRL-UHSII-DEC extends the oscilloscope’s capability by providing detailed data packet descriptions with bit-level information, as well as raw data and payload. Auto identification of range change with a pictorial representation of Full Duplex (FD) and Half-Duplex (2L-HD) mode switch, coupled with the ability to decode both live and offline waveforms, gives engineers time-correlated views at the protocol level to quickly troubleshoot problems back to their timing or signal integrity root cause. GRL-UHSII-DEC also provides easy-to-place Bus Diagram Markers to measure the time difference between various events in UHS-II protocol with comprehensive search function that makes finding unique protocol events exceptionally easy and quick.
“With UHS-II’s speed up to 1.56Gbps, its validation requires adequate knowledge and advanced technology, “ said Hiroyuki Sakamoto, SD Association Technical Committee, Co-Chair. “Granite River Labs’ software tool enables protocol analysis on oscilloscope which helps provide a powerful debug environment for all engineers.”
“Granite River Labs’ new SD UHS-II protocol decode software strongly complements Agilent’s UHS-II transmitter and receiver compliance test applications,” said Ailee Grumbine, Agilent Technologies Product marketing engineer. “This is a result of our strong partnership and joint goal to deliver a comprehensive solution to our customers.”
”GRL is proud to offer this this solution to the SD card community in partnership with Agilent, and add to our list of contributions to the SD ecosystem,” said Miki Takahashi, GRL director of signal integrity engineering. “Our UHS-II Protocol Decode software provides engineers a valuable new tool in their arsenal to efficiently debug and validate early SD designs.”
