Granite River Labs (GRL), a global leader in engineering services and test solutions for high speed connectivity, is pleased to announce that its Shin Yokohama, Japan lab has been authorized by the Video Electronics Standards Association (VESA) to provide official DisplayPort™ logo certification testing services. GRL Japan can now help DisplayPort adopters obtain the DisplayPort logo.
DisplayPort is a video interface standard administered by VESA that represents the new generation AV interface developed by the GPU/display industry. DisplayPort enables high display performance, robustness, versatility, the highest degree of system integration, and greater interoperability among various device types. DisplayPort over USB-C™ enables 4K video, SuperSpeed USB, and up to 100W of power through a single, reversible USB Type-C connector, while offering the same performance and feature capability as a standard DisplayPort connection.GRL’s DisplayPort and USB-C industry contributions include:
- First DisplayPort Authorized Test Center in Silicon Valley (2010)
- Editor of the DisplayPort 1.2b PHY Compliance Test Specification (2011-12)
- Certified the first DisplayPort 1.2b certified Source and Sink products (2011)
- Released first DisplayPort 1.2 Protocol Decode and Sink Compliance Test software (2014)
- Released USB-C Power Delivery Compliance and DisplayPort Alt Mode Test Solution (2015-16)
- Certified the first DisplayPort over USB-C products (2015-16)
- First ThunderboltTM 3 over USB-C Authorized Test Center (2016)
In addition to official certification testing for DisplayPort silicon and system designs, GRL offers DisplayPort developers a wide range of services, solutions, and expertise:
- Pre-certification and debugging support
- Design services and consulting
- IC characterization across Process, Voltage, and Temperature (PVT) and SERDES tuning
- DisplayPort and DisplayPort over USB-C Electrical & Protocol Test Solutions
“GRL is pleased to support DisplayPort and DisplayPort over USB-C development in Japan,” said Miki Takahashi, GRL Vice President of Engineering and Managing Director, GRL Japan. “GRL is a recognized leader in DisplayPort, especially in the emerging DisplayPort over USB-C ecosystem, and we have provided DisplayPort services world-wide since 2010. We are proud to offer our technical expertise to adopters in Japan.”
“As we continue to expand the capabilities of the DisplayPort standard and add benefits for the end user, we are simultaneously increasing the value of device certification for our members,” said Bill Lempesis, Executive Director of VESA. “GRL is recognized for its technical leadership in support of the DisplayPort standard, and we are pleased to expand the certification options for members in Japan.”
