Official certification testing for DP standard and DP over USB Type-C® sink products now available in the heart of Korea’s high-tech industrial zone.
Granite River Labs (GRL), a global leader in engineering services, test automation solutions for digital connectivity and charging technologies, and professional market access services, has announced that its Incheon, Korea lab has been authorized by the Video Electronics Standards Association (VESA) to provide compliance testing for the DisplayPort standard and DisplayPort over USB Type-C® on sink products supporting HBR3 and below bit rates. This new authorization places GRL Korea alongside GRL labs in Santa Clara, Taipei, Japan, Shanghai, and Dongguan as certified testing centers for DisplayPort technology.
DisplayPort is a packet-based, extensible protocol for transporting video and audio data. Initially introduced as a new external interface, its flexibility has enabled its adaptation to embedded displays and incorporation into other connectors like the new reversible USB Type-C® interface and Thunderbolt™.
“GRL Korea is excited to support the development of DisplayPort and DisplayPort over USB Type-C® in Korea,” said JW Moon, General Manager of GRL Korea and Vice President of Regional Large Accounts. “We hope this will help ambitious local adopters achieve continuous success with competitive time to market and encourage other local adopters to gain confidence in adopting DisplayPort and other VESA-led technologies.”
“With our ongoing efforts to enhance the DisplayPort standard and provide additional benefits for end users, we are also elevating the importance of device certification for our members,” said Bill Lempesis, Executive Director of VESA. “GRL is recognized for its technical leadership in supporting the DisplayPort standard, and we are pleased to broaden certification options for our members in Korea.”
