Granite River Labs (GRL), a DisplayPort (DP) Authorized Test Center and a leading contributor to DisplayPort 1.2 compliance test development, today announced availability of a unique software that enables automated calibration between the Tektronix BERTScope BSA and Tektronix real-time scope for DisplayPort 1.2b PHY Sink Compliance testing and characterization. The software can quickly run the DisplayPort Physical Layer (PHY) Compliance Test Specification (CTS) version 1.2b or characterize the electrical performance of any DisplayPort 1.2b Sink Design, taking the guesswork out of the complex task of testing DP Sinks.
DisplayPort is a digital display interface governed by the Video Electronics Standards Association (VESA) that delivers the industry’s premium audio-visual experience. GRL’s DisplayPort 1.2b PHY Sink Calibration and Test Software for the Tektronix BERTScope BSA (GRL-DP-SINK) automates single and multi-lane measurements at all DisplayPort data rates, 1.62, 2.7, and 5.4 Gb/s (RBR, HBR, and HBR2), and runs on any Windows based PC or Tektronix Oscilloscope. GRL’s unique DDJ (ISI) calibration feature eliminates the need for fixed ISI boards and many external cables and connectors to achieve the specifications very tight DDJ tolerance requirements. The combination of GRL-DP-SINK and an AUX Channel Controller – Tektronix DisplayPort DP-AUX or Unigraf DPT-200 Reference Source with AUX Control – allows engineers to automate Link Training and BER validation. Simply select the desired tests to run and work on other tasks while the tests are being executed.
“GRL-DP-SINK provides additional accuracy and convenience by automatically generating a comprehensive report at the completion of testing in the format required for official DisplayPort compliance certification.
“Together with GRL, we are excited to deliver a new DisplayPort sink test automation software offering,” said Brian Reich, general manager, Performance Oscilloscopes at Tektronix. “The automated solution that will enable engineers to efficiently test their designs and help to expedite DisplayPort sink test calibration for a faster time to answer.”
“The number of companies and the number of products seeking DisplayPort certification increases every year,” explained VESA Executive Director Bill Lempesis. “VESA appreciates Tektronix and GRL’s commitment to DisplayPort test automation. As DisplayPort proliferates into new displays, computers, tablets and televisions, there exists a growing need for efficient test protocols.”
”GRL is proud to offer this this solution to the DisplayPort community in partnership with Tektronix, and add to our list of contributions to the DisplayPort ecosystem,” said Mike Engbretson, GRL chief technology engineer. “Our DisplayPort 1.2b PHY Sink Calibration and Test software provides engineers a valuable new tool in their arsenal to efficiently debug and validate early DisplayPort designs, and test data required for VESA Logo Certification.”
