GRL Approved for USB Type-C® Shared Capacity Silicon and Power Brick (USB Power Delivery 3.1) Compliance Testing in Santa Clara , Taiwan & Japan

The endorsement allows OEMs and manufacturers to conveniently test for compliance in both the East and the West.

Granite River Labs (GRL), a global leader in engineering services and test automation solutions for digital connectivity, charging technologies, and professional market access services, has been officially approved by the USB Implementers Forum (USB-IF) for USB Type-C® Shared Capacity Power Brick compliance testing for USB Power Delivery (USB PD) 3.1 compliance testing. The approval sees GRL Santa Clara, Taiwan, and Japan formally included in the list of compliance test labs for said technology.

Certified USB Power Brick charges will resemble a traditional power brick and will be interoperable with a wider range of USB Type-C devices. USB PD 3.1 can currently provide up to 240W of power over compatible USB-C® cables. The higher power level enables full-featured USB-C cables to power desktop computers, laptops, docking stations, gaming PCs, and more.

President & COO of USB-IF Jeff Ravencraft said, "We are excited to include GRL in the latest edition of USB-IF test labs for power delivery testing. GRL’s expertise will be instrumental in conducting compliance testing for member companies' charging products, ultimately leading to more efficient options for consumers."

GRL President of Worldwide Services Holger Kunz said, “GRL is pleased to provide OEMs and manufacturers with all the technical and logistical support they need to keep up with the latest power sharing policies in the USB Type-C version 2.3 base specification. It’s an exciting time to capture market opportunities in the USB PD space and we look forward to welcoming you.”
