SANTA CLARA, Calif., September 1, 2020 – Granite River Labs (GRL), a global leader in Engineering Services and Test Solutions for high speed connectivity, today announced that it has been approved by the HDMI Forum as an Authorized Testing Center (ATC) to provide official certification test services for the new Ultra High Speed HDMI® Cable Certification Program (UHS Program). GRL will initially provide Ultra High Speed HDMI Cable certification test services from two conveniently-located facilities in Taipei, Taiwan and Dongguan, China. A contributing member of the HDMI Forum, GRL also offers a range of pre-certification and design consulting services, backed by deep HDMI expertise.
HDMI 2.1 specification introduced the Ultra High Speed HDMI cable, which supports up to 48 gigabits per second bandwidth for uncompressed HDMI 2.1 feature support. In addition to rigorous signal integrity testing, Ultra High Speed HDMI Cable certification includes testing to meet current EMI requirements to minimize wireless interference. All certified cables of any length must pass certification testing at an HDMI Forum Authorized Testing Center (Forum ATC). Once certified, cables will be required to affix an Ultra High Speed HDMI Certification Label to each package notifying consumers of the certification status of the product.
“The UHS Program brings the benefits of a seamless verification experience to HDMI adopters and consumers,” said Rob Tobias, CEO of HDMI Licensing Administrator, Inc. “We appreciate GRL’s contributions to the development and rollout of the program and are pleased they are an HDMI Forum ATC.”
“We’re thrilled to support the Ultra High Speed HDMI Cable Certification Program as an HDMI Forum ATC,” said Quintin Anderson, co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer of Granite River Labs. “The Program plays a critical role in ensuring that all the features and capabilities of the HDMI 2.1 Specification are delivered from a source device to a display, while supporting robust product interoperability and backwards compatibility.”
