GRL is the First Thunderbolt™ 3 Product Certification Test Center in China

Granite River Labs (GRL), a global leader in engineering services and test solutions for connectivity, today announced official qualification of their Shanghai China lab to perform Thunderbolt™ product certification testing for Thunderbolt 3 hosts and devices. GRL is the first test center in mainland China authorized to test Thunderbolt 3 products to ensure they meet test specifications.

Thunderbolt 3 is the only technology that supports 40 Gbps connections, dual 4K 60Hz displays, up to 100W of power, and multi-protocol support over a single USB Type-C® connector. It allows efficient connectivity of peripherals or displays including those that support the latest USB 3.1 10Gbps technology. Only products that pass official certification testing are authorized to use the Thunderbolt name, logo, and connector icon.

“We are excited to extend our support for the Thunderbolt ecosystem as an authorized test center and to continue our support of strong Thunderbolt adoption in mainland China,” said Johnson Tan, Chief Executive Officer at GRL. “We have leveraged our technical leadership and expertise in Thunderbolt, USB, PCI Express and DisplayPort, to offer a complete suite of Thunderbolt 3 product certification test services and solutions, with ultra-responsive service and deep technical support.”

“GRL’s certification program is critical to the successful ramp of Thunderbolt 3 products and assures customers that the products meet the compliance and interoperability requirements expected of Thunderbolt products,” said Jason Ziller, General Manager, Client Connectivity Division at Intel. “We are pleased to have them as an authorized test center.”

In addition to Thunderbolt, GRL Shanghai is approved to support official logo certification testing for USB, DisplayPort, HDMI, SATA, Apple® MFi Automotive and Qualcomm® QuickCharge™. GRL brings industry leadership in USB Type-CTM, USB Power Delivery (USB-PD), DDR, MIPI, PCI Express, SATA, SAS, SD Card/UHS-II and 10G/40G/100G/400G Ethernet as well as deep expertise in signal integrity and protocol analysis.
