GRL Introduces HDMI® 2.0 and 1.4b Protocol Decode & Compliance Test Software (GRL-HDMI-DEC)

GRL’s solution compatible with Keysight’s Infiniium real-time Oscilloscopes (GRL-HDMI-DEC)

Offers the most comprehensive HDMI 2.0 Source Protocol Compliance automated test coverage available today

Granite River Labs (GRL), a member of the HDMI Forum and operator of HDMI Authorized Test Centers, today announced availability of their HDMI 2.0 and 1.4b Protocol Decode and Compliance Test Software (GRL-HDMI-DEC), the only tool available for oscilloscope-based HDMI 2.0 protocol analysis and debugging. Developed in cooperation with Keysight (formerly Agilent) Technologies, GRL-HDMI-DEC is compatible with Keysight’s state-of-the-art Infiniium Series Oscilloscopes, and offers the most comprehensive automated coverage of HDMI 2.0 Source Protocol Compliance tests available today.

The HDMI Specification combines uncompressed high-definition video, multi-channel audio, and data in a single digital interface to provide crystal-clear digital quality over a single cable. HDMI 2.0 significantly increases bandwidth up to 18Gbps and adds key enhancements to support continuing market requirements for enhancing the consumer video and audio experience, including 4K@50/60 (2160p). Implementing HDMI 2.0 presents design challenges both at the electrical and protocol level with strict timing budget and bandwidth requirements.

GRL-HDMI-DEC helps developers shorten debug cycles and accelerate time-to-market by using time-correlated views to quickly troubleshoot HDMI problems back to their timing or signal integrity root cause. GRL-HDMI-DEC overcomes the limitations of using a traditional standalone oscilloscope and protocol analyzer, and presents HDMI developers a powerful option to perform HDMI 2.0 and 1.4b Source Protocol and Electrical Compliance Tests with the same Keysight scope.

“We are pleased to partner with Granite River Labs to support the emerging HDMI 2.0 ecosystem,” said Caren Johnson, Keysight Technologies High Performance Oscilloscope Marketing Manager. “Like Keysight, GRL has much expertise and their HDMI decode and compliance test solution is a very strong complement to the Keysight electrical compliance application.”

”GRL is proud to offer this this solution to the HDMI community in partnership with Keysight,” said Quintin Anderson, GRL Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer. “Our HDMI Protocol Decode and Compliance Test software provides engineers a valuable new tool in their arsenal to efficiently debug and validate early HDMI designs.”
