GRL and iXblue Photonics Announce Optical Test Partnership

Granite River Labs (GRL), a global leader in engineering services and test solutions for connectivity and charging, and iXblue Photonics, a global leader in specialty optical fibers and optical modulation solutions, today announced a partnership to support characterization of optical transmission systems and components with the iXblue’s state-of-the-art ModBox PAM4 series Optical Reference Transmitters.  GRL will serve as a ModBox North America sales representative and solution integrator and continue to use the ModBox for optical transceiver test services in its global test facilities.

iXblue and GRL will showcase the Modbox at the 45th European Conference on Optical Communication (ECOC), 23-25 September, Dublin, Ireland (stand 10).

The ModBox is designed to meet the high standards of engineers designing for the latest networking technologies to 400G. Generating very high quality PAM4 and NRZ optical data streams up to 56Gbaud/s, the ModBox features low jitter and very fast rise and fall times. The ModBox can be used to stress test optical receivers to the latest IEEE and OIF standards with repeatable and reproducible measurements.  The ModBox is available in O-band, C-band and 850nm wavelengths.

In partnership with iXblue, GRL will demonstrate ModBox capabilities to North American product developers interested in purchase, and provide test consultation, custom solution development and test automation to help customers integrate the ModBox into their test flow.  GRL’s optical test capabilities also feature the Anritsu MP1900A native 64 Gbaud/s NRZ and PAM4 Pattern Generator, as well as high-bandwidth real-time and sampling oscilloscopes.

“The iXblue Photonics ModBox delivers state-of-the-art performance in a user-friendly, cost effective turn-key solution,” said Hervé Gouraud, Sales Director of iXblue Photonics.  “We value GRL’s support to introduce the ModBox to a broader customer base and help customers use it effectively for R&D and production testing.”

“GRL is excited to partner with iXblue to support optical characterization for tomorrow’s demanding 400G data center applications,” said Miki Takahashi, Executive Vice President of Engineering for Granite River Labs.  “The ModBox is a perfect fit to expand GRL’s optical test capabilities, and we are pleased to have the opportunity to help iXblue Photonics expand their customer base.”
