HDR Latest Version Specification
DisplayHDR 1.1 CTS Errata 2 – 9th March 2021
This version is mainly updated to the test conditions of the True Black Checkerboard. To more accurately measure the product capabilities of the small panel, the updated content adds a 4×3 Checkboard test condition. Please refer to DisplayHDR Certification Test Items & Instruments Used. There are separate pictures and instructions.

DisplayHDR Certification Test Process
DisplayHDR Certification Process
DisplayHDR mainly tests the display of chroma and brightness of the screen. Although it is a test established by the VESA Association, this test can also be performed if your product has an HDMI/Thunderbolt interface. In other words, this test may not only be certified for DisplayPort support products.
(1) HDR test
If your product supports DisplayPort or Alternat-mode function, you need to pass the DisplayPort certification before you can obtain the DisplayHDR qualification.
(2) Become a VESA member
You can go to the association website to check whether your Company Name is an association member. 《click here to check》
Members can be OEM or Branding manufacturers, choose one.
- VESA's annual fee payment method is related to the company’s annual turnover and is priced in USD.
* If your product supports DisplayPort or Alternat-mode function, you need to register as a VESA member and pass the DisplayPort certification before you can obtain the DisplayHDR qualification (if the product has only an HDMI interface, you also need to become a VESA member).
(3) Provide sample information

(4) What should I do after the product passes the test
If your product has passed the test. You will receive a confirmation email sent by GRL.
If you would like to list your product on VESA official webpage, there are two methods:
- Fill out the "Certified Product Website Posting Information" in the CDF. After the product has passed the certification test in GRL, it will be submitted to the association by GRL with the Pass report.
- After the product has been certified and received the Congratulation Letter Email from GRL, use this letter to reply to the association's contact person: moderator@vesa.org directly, indicating that the product needs to be listed on the association's website.

The Test Conditions of DisplayHDR 1.1 CTS Errata 2 Updates - 4×3 True Black Checkerboard
- The main purpose of the Checkerboard test is to detect the active dimming
ability of the backlight . Since True Black requires higher contrast, the dimmingability of Tconn or Scalar is particularly important at this time. They need to analyze the signal data to confirm the required brightness level of the backlight. - Source: Summary of DisplayHDR Specs under CTS 1.1
