GRL India becomes First NCCS-designated TSTL for OLT & ONT certification

The lab's designation enables manufacturers to enter the Indian market by providing testing and certification under the VSC (Voluntary Security Certification) Scheme, which will be made mandatory after Mar 1st, 2025.

Granite River Labs (GRL), a global leader in engineering services, test automation solutions for digital connectivity and charging technologies, and professional market access services, has announced that its Bangalore Lab has become the First NCCS-designated TSTL for Optical Line Terminals(OLT) and Optical Network Terminals(ONT) by India’s National Centre for Communication Security (NCCS) as a Telecom Security Testing Laboratory (TSTL).

GRL’s Bangalore lab is the only lab in the country recognized by the NCCS to provide cyber security testing services to Optical Line Terminals (OLT) and Optical Network Terminals (ONT), IP router and Wi-Fi CPEs in accordance with ITSARs and other national and international standards.

The lab’s designation helps manufacturers get their equipment into the Indian market, which has made it mandatory for Optical Line Terminals(OLT) and Optical Network Terminals(ONT) to be certified starting from March 1st, 2025. Until then, starting from September 2024, Both OLT and ONT can be tested and certified under Voluntary Security Certification (VSC) as per notification issued by NCCS under ComSec scheme.

The applicants need to have their equipment tested against the relevant ITSAR by one of the designated TSTLs.

Note: The entire testing and certification process can take upto 16 weeks. NCCS may assign a validator to oversee the technical aspects of the testing conducted at the TSTL.

This designation is a statement from GRL to serve our customers by ensuring that their equipment complies with all local regulations, standards, and market requirements.

“GRL is delighted to announce that we are the first lab designated by NCCS to test and certify Optical Network Terminals(ONT) and Optical Line Terminals(OLT),” said Kalyan Varma, Vice President of Market Access Services, Global and General Manager for GRL Services India. “This development represents a significant boost to our market access services. It will help our customers even further and provide the confidence to our customers in the telecom space looking for ways to streamline the certification process and launch products in the Indian market quickly and efficiently.”
