The lab’s designation helps telecom device manufacturers streamline regulatory processes and get safe and secure products into the Indian market.
Granite River Labs (GRL), a global leader in engineering services, test automation solutions for digital connectivity and charging technologies, and professional market access services, has announced that its Bangalore Lab has been designated by India’s National Centre for Communication Security (NCCS) as a Telecom Security Testing Laboratory (TSTL). This follows the lab’s accreditation by the National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL) for compliance with the ISO/IEC 17025 standard.
GRL’s Bangalore lab is one of the few labs in the country recognized by the NCCS to provide cyber security testing services for telecom equipment in accordance with the Indian Telecom Security Assurance Requirements (ITSAR). These requirements ensure compliance with security standards and guidelines, suppress vulnerabilities and assure that appropriate security measures are in place.
The NABL accredits laboratories in accordance with the latest version of the ISO/IEC 17025 standard, which covers software and IT systems. In addition to being a regulatory requirement, such recognition enables laboratories to prove they operate competently and produce valid results. It also facilitates cooperation between laboratories and other bodies by generating wide acceptance of results between geographies. Test reports and certificates can be shared from one country to another without requiring any further testing, which speeds up the process, cuts costs and improves international trade.
GRL’s Bangalore lab is also accredited to conduct evaluations required for any telecom equipment, computer networks and application software prior to entering the Indian ecosystem, including OWASP Top 10 and CWE Top 25 application security testing, and Vulnerability Analysis & Penetration Testing in line with NIST SP 800-115 standards. The scope of accreditation also covers basic security assessment according to European requirements ETSI EN 303 645 for IoT devices
“GRL is delighted to announce that our Bangalore lab has been designated as a Telecom Security Testing Laboratory by the National Centre for Communication Security,” said Kalyan Varma, Vice President of Market Access Services, Global and General Manager for GRL Services India. “This development represents a significant boost to our market access services. It will increase the confidence of customers in the telecom space looking for ways to streamline the certification process and launch products in the Indian market quickly and efficiently.”
