Expand wireless communication capabilities strengthen GRL’s ability to meet the surging demand for smart home and IoT products.
Granite River Labs (“GRL”), a global leader in engineering services, automated test solutions for digital connectivity and charging technologies, and professional market access services, has announced that its Korean lab as an accredited Authorized Test Lab (ATL) for Matter 1.1 standard by the Connectivity Standards Alliance (the Alliance). GRL’s lab in Korea now offers certification testing, pre-certification testing, and debugging services for smart home devices and Internet of Things (IoT) wireless products.
GRL’s Matter services covers both hardware and software solutions for a wide range of smart devices, including smart home speakers, smart TVs, innovative light bulbs, and their corresponding switches. GRL provides Matter 1.1 certification services to customers around the world from its Alliance-accredited laboratories in Incheon and Taipei, continually expanding its reach in the Wireless/IoT space.
The new open-source Matter is an application layer built on top of proven technologies like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Thread, and Ethernet, serving as a unifying, IP-based connectivity protocol. It enables compatible smart home devices and systems to connect seamlessly, securely, and reliably. The Alliance announced the release of Matter 1.1 last May while anticipating the next Matter update within this year in line with the alliance’s goal of setting a twice-yearly release cycle. GRL’s testing and certification, according to the new standard specifications, will play a pivotal role in fulfilling Matter's promise of simplifying development for manufacturers and enhancing compatibility for consumers.
“GRL is pleased to expand the lab's testing and validation capabilities of wireless products and systems to include the Matter standards,” said Vamshi Kandalla, Chief Strategy Officer at Granite River Labs. “We are excited to provide reliable testing to our South Korean customers to help them keep up with the competition in this fast-growing market.“
“The Connectivity Standards Alliance is committed to fostering a strong ecosystem of connected devices,“ said Jon Harros, Director of Certification and Testing Programs at the Alliance. “GRL's efforts in providing testing services for cutting-edge devices contribute significantly to that goal. We look forward to collaborating further with GRL to support the adoption and development of these exciting advancements.“
